The Persistence emerged from the friendship of David and Bernhard and their spontaneous jam sessions during their years of study and the time they spent at the campus of their university. As this awesome time draws to a close, they decided to record a few of these songs as some kind of reminiscence for them, their friends or just for everyone who is up for this acoustic project.

Mother Is Not A Tree

A danceperformance written and choreographed by Kathrin Pichler due to her final baccalaureate examination at the Orff institution Salzburg (major: dance). The correspondent composition “Mother Is Not A Tree” is part of the background music beside artists like Sigur Ros and John Dowland. Leo Brouwer’s “La espiral eterna” provided a basis for the composition.

The choreographer focuses in her work on the interaction of the human being and the spaces which surround, influence, affect and maybe control the individual identity. What and where is home? Is it a feeling, an aspiration, an utopia…?

Wie stehen wir in Bezug zu den Räumen, die uns umgeben? Was macht die Beschaffenheit eines Ortes mit uns, was machen wir mit dem Ort? Wo fühlen wir uns zuhause?
Heimat, ein Ort der allen in der Kindheit scheint und wo noch niemand war. ⁽²⁾
… ein Gefühl, eine Sehnsucht, ein Nicht-Ort – Verwurzelung und Entwurzelung…
Doch darin, dass sie voneinander verschieden sind, sind sich merkwürdigerweise die Menschen gerade wieder gleich.

NIBIRU OST

From one day to the next a giant orb appears on the horizon and baths earth in a glistening, everlasting light. It makes people become insane or suddenly vanish. Chased by their fear, lots of humans hole up into special shelter, where they’re waiting to the end of their living death. The menace doesnt impress Thomas, the leading actor, a lot. The lack of intimacy at the shelter cramps him much more, so he secretly visits a little storeroom to distance himself from the rest of the inmates and custodians. There, he unwittingly gets in touch with Nibiru’s light. Blinded by the light, Thomas is suddenly faced with his lost darling. From that moment on, a transborder journey between reality and fiction starts, to show the real meaning of the word apocalypse: change.

David Philipp and me were able to provide the whole audio stuff for the movie “Nibiru”. It all started with the on-set recording, the complete sounddesign and finally an ambient, esoteric soundtrack, including twelve tracks which are coined by massive drones and colourful pads.

Nibiru, a short film directed by Wolfgang Schäffer, with Alexander Merbeth, Fabienne Elaine Hollwege, Alexander Gamnitzer, Christian Wewerka, Prashant Prabhakar and Andreas Jendrusch.

NIBIRU SFX Reel

David Philipp and me did the complete sounddesign including all foleys and soundeffects. The only original on-set recording sounds you can hear are the voices from the actors. Everything else was edited in the postproduction to give the movie a very clear and defined audio ambience. At the end the sounddesign was combined with the compositions of the soundtrack to the final soundscape of “Nibiru”.

It’s no charge. It’s not a project. It’s a leisure activity, combining my passion for elctronic music and one of my favourite things to do: playing with sounds and producing music.

It all began in 2004, when I got introduced to Drum & Bass. Fascinated by the various styles of the myriad genre-subcategories, I quickly adapted my sequencer presets to 175 bpm. In December 2009, I got my first release under my former synonym “Che” on a French label called Totaal Rez Records.

“This Is It” developed from the internship at the Munich based toneproduction company Giesing-Team in 2009. It shows two versions of the radio commercial to Michael Jackson’s movie “This Is It”. It was on air in October 2009.

“Herz” is a radio commercial produced for the department for gambling-addiction in Bavaria. The initiative tries to fight against gambling-addiction and takes a stand for the gamblers. It focuses on the German gambling-treaty to prevent from gambling-addiction and helping addicts to find their way out.

Reality Check

“Reality Check” is a short documentation about famous austrian climber Markus Bendler. A portrait about the 25 year old Tyrolean, ice climbing worldchampion, who made climbing to his purpose in life. It’s a movie about motivation, training and a life constantly attended by death.

David Philipp and me were able to provide the tunes for the movie soundtrack. We both produced several tracks and did some collabs. Here are two of my solo productions for the soundtrack.

Due to the ability to foresee when other people doing harm to her, Elea suffers since her childhood. She prefers hiding in isolation and escapes from society than confront herself with her special skill. Everything seems to be perfect and Elea feels well in her tiny, dreamy world. But one day, a party at her neighbours place causes everything to alter.
